One of the highlights of the upcoming 53rd Founding Anniversary Celebration is to witness the different activities like the intramurals, literary competitions, dance extravaganza and the musical extravaganza. In line with these events, the MSU College of Business Administration and Accountancy hosted this year’s Musical Extravaganza. It was being held at the ILS-Gymnasium, last August 29, 2014.

Even though not all the colleges of MSU-Main campus joined in the said competition but still it was very amazing in it comes to the talents and skills of every students. As part of the celebration, every college had their participants in different categories. They had to compete each category like the vocal solo (English and Filipino Category), vocal duet, vocal solo (faculty category), acapella, instrumental solo and group impersonation.
In addition with this, the events were being sponsored by some well-known companies. They were the Jollibee Iligan branch, Tita Fannies Liempo and Chicken Haus, Greenwich, Red Ribbon, Boardwalk Business Ventures Inc., MS Events and Resources, and most especially the Jeco’s Restaurant in MSU Marawi City.

The Jollibee mascots also had a presentation to catch up the attention of the audience. There were also some selected Marketing Students who showed their presentation that conveys the message of taking good care of our mother earth and make the habits of Reducing, Reusing and Recycling things that would help preserve the environment.
The said event was very successful. Indeed, all participants deserve the awards they had. After all, at the end of the day, the College of Business Administration and Accountancy got the overall champion for the year’s Musical Extravaganza

JEMA Days 2014 Celebration sponsored by JECO's Restaurants

Jeco’s is one of the well-known restaurants in Commercial Center, MSU, Marawi City. Customers patronized their products not only for the quality of the foods they serve but also the affordability, good service and most especially for the very unique taste of their foods.

The term JECO’s derived from the initial name of the four partnerships. One of the partners is Mrs. Marelyn B. Andrada who is also the manager of the said establishment. It was established on July 1, 2005 but on September 9, 2005 was the start of her management.

Last July 30, 2014, the Marketing 111 students of the section LM visited to the warehouse of the Jeco’s restaurant. There, we met the manager; she had also shared to us her experiences in putting up their restaurant. She said that in putting up a business, it is not necessary that you have a big capital. Small ones were enough. At the warehouse, we saw their production area. It was so clean, organize and a quiet place.  Even though it wasn’t a big area but for her it was enough in the since that each employees had their individual task.

In connection with these, during our JEMA day’s celebration, Jeco’s restaurant is one of the most active sponsors. In fact, the husband of Mrs. Marelyn was one of the chosen judges during the search for Mr & Ms JEMA 2014. This establishment was very supportive in terms of the activities that will be held in MSU. They also gave gift certificates for the winners in the said competition during the JEMA days like the print advertisements wherein each year level had to advertise their products.

As we can see now, JECO’s is one of the leading restaurants in MSU, Marawi City. They continue serving customers their delicious and nutritious products. It had one branch located at MSU Naawan and for her, she wanted to had another branch in Iligan City. And even though there exists a lot of competitors within the locality, but still they never had a problem on it. For her, the important thing is you can always offer customers with delicious and nutritious foods that will meet to the satisfaction to every individual.

But the best thing she said, “There is nothing impossible especially when there is God”.

Marketing Department Celebrates JEMA Days 2014

July 30, 2014, this was the start of the activities wherein the Marketing Department of MSU, Marawi City celebrates JEMA days.  We had a parade from CBAA grounds going to Commercial Center until it reached at the Macarambon Hall, the place of event. Each year level had their different concepts of their arcs.  Along with the parade, the Jollibee as one of the sponsors in the said event join the parade with their mascots: the bee and twirly. For almost an hour of a long walk, we reached at the machall wherein we had our opening program. In line with this opening program, every year level showcases their cheers and yells. All of the faculty members had joined in the said event. This JEMA day celebration lasts for 3 days. The first days consists of the literary competition in the morning while Marketistas got talent in the afternoon. Each of the said participants in every category showed their best in performing the said competition. Even though each year was very competitive but still there will be the best of them. Students were very happy knowing that participants were good not only in the academic subjects but also in terms of talents and skills.

July 31, 2014, the second day of the event. We had our search for “Mr and Ms JEMA 2014”. Each of the year level had two pairs of participants. Surprisingly, one of the judges in the said event was the husband of the manager in the JECO’s restaurant.

During the search you could see handsome and lovely students wearing their different executive attire, innovative costumes and their evening gown.  But the most awaited moment was the Q&A portion. At this time, the knowledge of each candidate will be tested. Until it came to the point that winners were announced. Both from the second year level were crowned as the Mr and MS JEMA 2014 while the first runners up were both from the fourth year level. Even though some of them got no awards but still they had shown us their best performance. They still had built their confidence while joining the said event.

August 1, 2014 the third and last day of the celebration. It was the most awaited moment of everybody. This was the acquaintance night of the Marketing Department with the theme “Dazzling Beautiful Creatures’’.  You can see beautiful and handsome students wearing their different dresses and suits. Some of them spend much time, effort and most specially money just for the night. Indeed, it was one of the best experiences of the students during their college life. Although there were some negative feedbacks about the event but still it was very successful at the end of the day.

I know that these are one of the most awaited events in each department or colleges of every school that has to celebrate each year. And for me, this is one of the best moments that I had experience in my life.

Green Marketing Exhibit done by the Marketing 111 students

Last August 13, 2014, we the marketing 111 students had our Green Marketing Exhibit that was being held at the lobby of the College of Business Administration and Accountancy. After for almost 3 days of preparation for the said event, we finally had our exhibit with the concept of "the Lorax".
It was almost 6am on that day when every one of us were busy enough decorating in the lobby. Even though it was early enough for us to wake up but still we had time to make it. I thought that it will be started in the morning but due to some fortuitous event, Prof.Richard S. Celeste announced that it was being moved at 2:30 in the afternoon.
The program started with an opening prayer followed by the inspirational talk done by our instructor in the said event. Some selected students of Mktg111 had their interpretative dance entitled “Heal the World”. The song reminds us that we should have to take care of our mother earth. One of the reasons why we had done this exhibit is to simply make people aware that we must be responsible not just for ourselves but also for taking care of our mother earth. We made different kind of products out of empty plastic bottles. In this way, we can see that the students enhance their creativity in using those empty plastic bottles like C2, Nature’s spring and Coca cola.

This exhibit is not just focusing on the individual output of the students but to make people aware that we must have to be responsible in taking care and saving our mother earth. Aside from that to make them realize that we can make use of those things that we think it can be of no use by simply to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. The future lies in our hand. So we must have to cooperate not just for the sake of our own self but also for the sake of our future generation. Let us work hand in hand and make a better place.
